Posted in NewsWhen it comes to our kids, it's important to realize that we cannot force them to do anything. Well... We can, but it will not serve us long term! A more helpful option would be to set limits for ourselves, decide what WE will do and follow through! Examples would be: you seem upset and I will wait for you in the car...or...when you are ready, I will be in the kitchen. Set limits on what you will accept, what you can do and follow through. Your children will learn to improve communication (less tantrums and whining since it produces no results) and will see modeling of appropriate behavior when someone is frustrated (instead of yelling back, bargaining or threatening). You will enjoy less frustration and more emotional closeness with your child!
